The Commissions of Gaiata, Honorific Hermitages of the Magdalena

Gaiata commissions are not just any citizen group. For more than 70 years they have been the heart of the Magdalena Festivities, they were fundamental in their modern configuration as main festivals throughout the city and from 1945 until today have represented Castellon in many and very significant occasions. That is why the Excelentísimo City Council of Castellón agreed to distinguish the gaiatas with the title of Honorary Hermitages of the Magdalena.

To that end, the Mayor of the City, Amparo Marco, assembled the representatives of all the commissions of the Caiatans in the Magdalena Hermitage and handed them the keys to her door: “from today you have the keys of the Magdalena and I am sure that it will be to have the doors of everything that the Magdalena symbolizes open wide, for all the people of good will “.

In a tremendously emotional act for the collective gaiatero, the councilor of Ermitas, Enric Porcar, also took the floor, who wanted to clarify that the distinction of Honorific Hermitages of the Magdalena was born with the clear vocation to become “the maximum distinction that the City Council of Castellón grants an entity, group or individual for its work to make Castellón bigger and to carry the name of the city “and continued explaining that from the Municipal Government” we are confident that this honorary position, which is now granted for the first time, Contribute to the revaluation of the Magdalena and everything that symbolizes. ”

With the March of the City touched by the Colla de Dolçainers i Tabaleters, the mayor of Castellón, gave the keys of the hermitage of the Magdalena to Carlos Chipirraz, as president of the Manager of Gaiatas, who opened its doors.

The ceremony also served as an acknowledgment of the work done by Michelangelo Mulet as a hermit of the Magdalena during the last 16 years.

A beautiful sunny morning accompanied the emotional act celebrated in our beloved Magdalena. Now the Galatians have a responsibility to protect and make known a fundamental part of our history as a people.
