MAGDALENA 2023, 1ST SUNDAY

3/12/2023

The morning begins early, with the departure from the City Hall to start the “Romería de les Canyes” (Pilgrimage of the Canes), accompanied by a sunny day.

Sequiol was well represented by the Children’s President, Carlos Benedito, the Children’s Madrina, Lucía Benedito, the Madrina, Adriana Llopis, and the President, Elisabeth Breva, wearing their best farmer’s costumes, as tradition dictates, with the cane and the green ribbon, so representative of Castellón and our festival.

As tradition says, we had lunch at the first stop at Sant Roc. There, although the heat was too much for many of us, we regained strength to continue to the Hermitage until we reached the summit, which, according to history, was the starting point of our festival in Castellón.

Night fell, and to continue fulfilling history, it was time to look like it should and in front of all the public of Castellón, our tremendous and luminous monuments, which represent our festival and Castellón, “que fa seguint la llum antiga, perque la gaiata siga el nostre millor pregó.”

The gaiata parade began, and gaiata 15 was one of the first to march, eager to show our effort and hard work for many months, two gaiatas that we are very proud to have built with love and as a family, as it should be.

Lucía, Adriana, and Carlos, with their best smiles, made us see that they proudly exhibited these magnificent monuments, accompanied by their beloved commission and “les xiquetes del meneo” those beautiful girls who always lead our gaiata with their harmonious walking.

In the end, all the sequiolos waited to receive our little Alejandra, who ended the parade as Children’s Queen, along with her Court of Honor, and who received the applause and affection of her family.
